This authentic Japanese reproduction of a Type I denim jacket highlights Samurai's celebrated Zero denim, beautifully embodying the classic 1930s silhouette. In keeping with tradition, it features the traditional cinch back while also integrating modern enhancements for greater comfort, such as wider armholes, slightly larger shoulders, and a more generous body width. Samurai has also optimised the yoke and pocket placements for a superior fit. Unlike vintage Type I jackets, which limited the 'T-back' design to larger sizes, Samurai now offers this genuine detail across all sizes, utilising a two-piece fabric construction joined at the centre.
Made from Samurai's distinctive 17oz 'Zero' unsanforized selvedge denim—famous for its slubby, neppy texture—this fabric, initially developed in 2004, employs uneven No. 5 yarn for both the warp and weft, providing an unmatched tactile experience.
The jacket's meticulous craftsmanship is evident in every detail, featuring branded metal buttons, an exclusive cowhide leather patch, robust extra-heavy stitching, and distinctive silver lamé selvedge, making it a remarkable blend of historical significance and contemporary innovation.
